Overview

We are seeking Systems & Maritime Engineering Specialists to support the delivery of complex programs within the national security portfolio.

This role will see you providing engineering advice, technical assessment, and delivery support across a range of projects, ensuring solutions are feasible, aligned to requirements, and delivered in accordance with engineering standards and governance frameworks.

About the role

You will work closely with program teams, architects, and stakeholders to provide practical engineering input across design, requirements, and delivery activities.

This is a broad role suited to engineers who are comfortable operating across systems engineering, technical assurance, and delivery coordination, particularly in complex or regulated environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Engineering Advice & Assessment

• Provide engineering and technical advice across relevant domains
• Assess the feasibility and suitability of technical solutions
• Identify constraints, assumptions, and dependencies impacting delivery

Requirements, Design & Documentation

• Support the interpretation, refinement, and validation of technical requirements
• Review and provide input to designs, specifications, and engineering artefacts
• Assist in the preparation and control of technical documentation and baselines

Options & Trade-Off Analysis

• Support evaluation of technical options and trade-offs
• Identify associated risks, impacts, and opportunities
• Contribute evidence-based inputs to investment or governance decisions

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

• Identify and analyse technical risks, issues, and interdependencies
• Support mitigation strategies and issue resolution
• Escalate complex matters requiring engineering or management decisions

Technical Delivery & Coordination

• Provide hands-on technical support to day-to-day delivery activities
• Assist with coordination across engineering and delivery teams
• Support the collation and validation of technical inputs and data

Standards, Assurance & Compliance

• Support alignment with applicable engineering standards and frameworks
• Contribute to assurance, review, and compliance activities
• Ensure technical outputs are fit-for-purpose, consistent, and auditable

About you

You are a capable and adaptable engineer with experience working across systems engineering and/or maritime environments, ideally within complex or highly regulated programs.

Essential

• Experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or maritime engineering environments
• Strong ability to assess technical solutions and support design activities
• Experience working with requirements, technical documentation, and engineering artefacts
• Demonstrated ability to identify and manage technical risks and dependencies
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Desirable

• Experience within the national security or similarly regulated environments
• Familiarity with engineering standards, assurance frameworks, or lifecycle governance
• Exposure to maritime systems, platforms, or domain-specific engineering
• Experience supporting technical decision-making or trade-off analysis
